App security

How to check a BDG Win app source before installation

An icon, familiar name, or polished screen is not enough to verify an application. Before installing any BDG Win app package, work through these checks.

1. Start from a destination you can verify

Avoid app files sent through unsolicited messages, public file shares, or shortened links. Confirm the domain character by character and look for a clear publisher identity.

2. Compare the publisher name

The publisher shown by the distribution source should be consistent with the platform information you have independently verified. Similar spelling deserves extra scrutiny.

3. Inspect the requested permissions

Ask whether each permission is necessary. Requests involving contacts, messages, accessibility controls, microphone, or broad file access require a clear explanation.

4. Look for version and update details

A trustworthy distribution page should provide understandable version information and an update route. Do not assume a larger version number proves authenticity.

5. Check the file with device security tools

Keep built-in device protection enabled. A warning should be investigated, not dismissed simply because an instruction page says to ignore it.

6. Reject modified-package claims

Claims about unlocked features, fixed results, or special access are warning signs. Modified packages can expose credentials and device data.

7. Know how to remove access

Before installation, know where your device lists app permissions and installed applications. If behavior is unexpected, remove the app and review account security from a trusted device.
